Overview

Folklore brewing is a brewery concept that is centered around creatures of myth and legend from around the world. Different beer styles are accompanied by different characters to create a unique packaging system.

Approach

I have always been fascinated by fantasy and creatures of myth. I researched stories from different cultures and picked my favorite tales. I then started with sketching ideas for the logo and characters on paper and later moved to procreate, illustrator and photoshop to expand these Ideas.

Creating the Logo

A number of logo ideas were explored before deciding on the dragon. All of these ideas are sketched rough and refined in my sketchbook.

I explored different lockups and formats but ultimately decided on a crest with the dragon and crown as seen on the packaging.

Character Design

As with all my projects, I began with sketching the character designs on paper. Once I was happy with the layouts, I switched to an Ipad and procreate to draw each one. Here is a process video of the Dullahan Red Ale (Headless Horseman) character from start to finish.
